Family Bike Ride

Over a year…

Though I’m sad to say that’s how long it’s been since our last family bike ride, I can say that it was worth the wait!  What a glorious day!  As far as weather goes, I don’t think any season beats spring in Southern California.  Still no flies.  Warm(ish) days and chilly nights.  Mix of sun and rain.  I love it!

And oh, how we needed a family fun day!  I say this every time, and here I’ll say it again… Why did we wait so long?

Welcome, Spring!

These two… best of friends one minute…  “Come on, let’s go outside and make garden stones!”

“Um… you stay over here… I don’t want to take a picture with you.”  And so it goes.  Siblings.

Loving the later evenings, mix of rain and sun, and anticipation of Easter and summer.  Spring is my favorite… (until the next season, that is…)

Old Friends/ Old Traditions

Oh, the special memories and special times with dear friends… We were so happy to have our Texas friends return to California for a visit.  It was short, but sweet.  Of course, we had to enjoy some fresh chocolate chip cookies like we did in the old days.  And, the kids helped us make our traditional Easter buttermint play dough, which kept them entertained for quite some time.  There is something so special about a friendship that has endured through the years and through a long distance move.  These people will always hold a special place in my heart.

St. Patrick’s Day 2018

Once upon a time, I was very aware of every upcoming holiday — whether it was big or small, we celebrated; sometimes big, and sometimes small.  This year, I awoke on St. Patrick’s Day with a panic.  Yes, I had already bought the Lucky Charms — but I was suppose to make the green milk and decorate the night before, plus I still had our Irish soda bread muffins to make.  Thankfully, older kids and the time change allowed me to get it all done before they woke up, and the kids won’t even know I almost forgot until they read this!

Ironically, I feel like I was more creative when the kids were little and I was running on little sleep.  Even as I stare at this screen now, I am amazed at how big my kids are getting and how fast time is going.  There may in fact come a day when I forget completely, (but I pray I don’t!)  For now, I am so thankful for every day — every celebration with my kiddos.  Yes, these holidays and traditions make me take out my camera, but they are also a reminder to celebrate the goodness in every day!

Who Should I Be?

Looking at this picture, I really can’t decide who I’d rather be… the 11 year old girl whose biggest concern is which i-pad game to play next, or the cat taking its 3rd nap of the day before noon.  (To be fair, the sweet 11 year old was sick, which is why she wasn’t doing school.)  Still… Tough choice!

My Board

Well… it seems that everyone has one of these letter boards these days…

And although I don’t have an Instagram account where I can post pictures of my clever sayings, I admit; I have thought for quite some time now how much fun I would have with one.  And then!?  My sweet friend got me one for my birthday. Aww…

My kids didn’t even “get” my first post to THE BOARD, But, they were quick to change it out.  Natalie had the first go, and decided to do the Bible verse we are currently memorizing.  Good choice, Nat!

And, after wanting to do this for some time, we fINALLY got around to rearranging our office.  It feels so awesome in here!  More desk space and a few new shelves; what a difference!  (Of course, I still can’t show you Daniel’s side of the desk, but I’ll give him a little grace… after all, he does keep track of all the paper work for me!)
